So everyone eventually has to go through middle school AKA Jr. High right? And they get these lockers, classes, bigger kids, PE, and dealing with the annoyings, populars, jocks, nerds and the quiet ones. But who are we to label people? Anyway, I'm saying goes through this awkward stage.
First of all, haven't we all forgotten to close our locker? Let alone remember the combo! Here are a few ways to remember your combination!
1. Love music? Try listening to your favorite song, while looking AT your combination on a piece of paper.
2. Another music strategy, try putting in your locker combination into the lyrics you already know!
3. Try writing a poem out of your combination (including raps, song lyrics exc.)
4. Practice, practice, practice!
You can even try coming up with some of your own strategies and share them with your friends to help them with their lockers!
"How many classes?!" is probably one of the first complaints that pop into your mind or come right out of your mouth. In Jr High you probably have around 6 classes including homeroom. YES. SIX CLASSES. Don't worry! (One of them is an elective) Plus, you'll be used to the passing periods in no time. Here are some tips on remembering your way:
1. Ask the office for a map of the campus, draw your class locations and how to get from one to another! (Try to label your locker on it too!)
2. Figure out the best (and illegal) short cuts of your school, remember: can't be late for class!
3. Mark your map with different colors to recognize them easily.
You can even make your own map of your school campus! Just do your best and ask for some help when you really need it.
Middle school involves lots of incidents, clothes stains, no money, and especially school supplies! Here are a couple of things you should have in your locker at all times:
-Extra pencils
-3 notebooks
-Hair elastics (girls, we know your out there)
-T shirt
-10 dollars and 2 Quarters
-Lip balm/lotion
-Hand sanitizer
-Spare socks
-jacket
and anything else that's important (and allowed!) at school (;
Remember to keep things organized!
HOMEWORK EW
No one can disagree with this: HOMEWORK CAN BE REALLY TOUGH. And most of you probably are still adjusting to the amount of homework your getting this year. Here's a few things you should have to stay successful & organized this year:
-Homework planner (write all assignments)
-DONE homework folder
-UNDONE homework folder
and ALWAYS have a friend's contact info JUST IN CASE you have a homework emergency!
And last but not least- making friends. Especially if your headed to a new school. Everyone will and always be new to something at one point, right? Well then that means to just keep your cool (and by that i mean to be YOU!) and be bold. Stand out, be friendly, and don't ever let what other people think about you, eat you all up. You're there to learn, always remember that. Yes, there will always be certain amounts of certain people that you might not get along with or you might just not like them. There's always bad influences and good ones- try to stay with the good ones. Just think of middle school as kindergarten or pre-school, just another stage in your life that will take you from being a kid to a teen, as in kindergarten, a toddler to a kid. You'll always be you, don't let anyone ever change that.
